Focaccia is a classic Italian bread that is loved all over the world. It is a flatbread that is similar to pizza dough, but with a softer and fluffier texture. In this recipe, we will be using olive oil to give the focaccia its signature flavor and texture.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt

Focaccia with olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Add the olive oil and warm water to the dry ingredients. Mix until the dough comes together.
  3. Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Grease a baking sheet with olive oil.
  5. Place the dough on the baking sheet and use your fingers to press it out into a rectangle.
  6. Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat your oven to 400°F (205°C).
  8. Use your fingers to make dimples all over the surface of the dough.
  9. Drizzle the dough with olive oil and sprinkle with chopped rosemary and coarse sea salt.
  10. Bake the focaccia for 20-25 minutes, or until it is golden brown.
  11. Remove the focaccia from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
